"life is a 12 inch journey, from the head to the heart."
What is our Purpose as Humans on this Planet? How is Humanity going to evolve?
Seven years ago life took me on an unforgettable journey to my Heart. After a lifetime of barely scratching the surface of the rich depths of Life, I awoke, and a beautiful relationship with myself unfolded. A great teacher once told me: "Life is a 12-inch journey, from the head to the heart" - this is the journey I am on, and I have never felt more alive.
At the end of 2013, the silent knocking of my soul could no longer be ignored. I was working career in finance and after the prestige of my job quickly dwindled I was standing there unfulfilled and lost for purpose. I decided to take the leap of faith and follow a deep desire to pursue my love for yoga. I travelled to Bali and completed my 200-hour YTT with Yoga Works which was the beginning of an everlasting journey of self-exploration.
After some months in Bali, merry go riding my way through the perpetual list of healers, shamans, priestesses and more I was cracked open and hungry for more.
I learned about the essence of my beingness, of the profound power of Love and of a world beyond the five senses. I surrendered myself completely to Life and moved where my heart pulled me. I fell in Love for the first time and understood that this state of being is why we are here! So I allowed myself to get completely absorbed in Love, LOST in love... and then broken by Love... A cycle that taught me so much and prepared me to be even more authentic and true in my life.
Then, the spirit of Ayahuasca visited me in my dreams, and I knew I had to answer the call and journey to the origins of the medicine. I ended 2014 in the Sacred Valley of Peru working with native plant medicines. A six-week dance with the plants connected me even deeper with my core essence. The message was clear; I had to move my life to Bali.
I moved to Bali with my partner, Jose. Together we immersed ourselves in the world of healing, yoga, meditation, food, raw food, detox, fasting, energy work, permaculture and more.
Learning foremost, how to simply Be.
Along the way, we were so blessed to meet a beautiful human and teacher, Pi, who passed on the profound Inner Dance method to us. It has been the core of our offering ever since.
A year in blissful Bali went by until we both felt it was the moment to move on.
We spent the following two years travelling Asia, Australia and India learning and serving communities through workshops and retreats focused on healing through all the life hacks we picked up along the way.
At the end of 2015, I travelled to India and set forth on a personal pilgrimage. Visiting this magical place was a dream come true. Everything that resonated with me so deeply was born here, and now I was there, breathing in the essence of my passions. I paid tribute to Mother Ama and Sri Ramana Maharishi, voyaging around the infamous Arunachala mountain, deeply inquiring, Who am I? A method to self-realization, called Advaita, as taught by Maharishi. Following this voyage, I arrived at the Sivananda School of Yoga and Vedanta in Madurai to study the Sivananda Yoga lineage and to complete my Teacher Training Course. Om Namah Shivaya, what an experience!
In 2016 Jose and I hosted our first official 10-day retreat in Palawan, Philippines at Maia Earth Village, the home of Inner Dance.
We have been facilitating retreats ever since across the globe including magical sites such as Oaxaca, Mexico, Bowen Island & Sunshine Coast, Canada, Spain, and Bali.
It is a dream come true to craft a Life where I am living in alignment with my highest Knowing and Purpose. It hasn't been easy, but every step of courage brings me closer and closer to a total state of flow and harmony in my life.
In 2016 I was fortunate to intern with yogi, Jani Jaatinen (Gokulacandra) in Kota Kinabalu, Borneo. It was an absolute honor to learn from such a devoted and disciplined practitioner.
We spent the remainder of 2016 and into 2017 on the road, globetrotting out of the minimalistic comfort of our Japanese imported 1997 Toyota Hiace, the Flying Durian. Our little home on wheels that runs entirely on waste vegetable oil... there are many stories.
2017 I followed my love for Dharma Yoga and travelled to New York where I studied with Sri Dharma Mitra and completed my 500 hour Life of a Yogi Teacher Training. Dharma Yoga is the inspiration of my personal practice and I love sprinkling Dharma LOVE into all my classes. As Dharma infamously says to end every class: "be receptive to the teachings."
I am infinitely grateful to you, Dharma Mitra - thank you for the transmission.
We spent the end of 2017 living out of our van on the beaches of Santa Monica, Los Angeles. Our primary purpose for being there: to study with Kundalini Yoga teacher, Guru Singh. Every Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday we were at Yoga West, LA studying from a wizard himself. Guru Singh is an artist of words. He inspired me to study the Kundalini Yoga technology. Opening myself to a new way of YOGA and immersing myself fully in the practice- YES my life forever changed as I adopted a daily 3:30 am Sadhana (grateful to share this practice with my loving partner).
It was also around this time when I took a journey to Boulder to explore my love for Devotional Singing (Bhakti Yoga). I attended a Kirtan Leader School and my life was forever changed. I soon thereafter got a Harmonium (an Indian instrument) and chanting has become a core of my daily practice since.
At the start of 2018, we settled for several months in Whistler, Canada, to embrace our love for fresh powder and to build community. Our home became a conscious community space called the, Be Love House Whistler and our doors were open daily for heart opening, educational, transformational, and healthy experiences! Women's Circles, Inner Dance, Yoga, Cold Plunges, Plant-based Potlucks, Detox workshops, Kundalini, and more. It was at this moment that I connected deeply with a CALL, a call to work with women and began to host Women's Retreats. Passion. We visited Seattle once a month to attend Guru Singh's Aquarian Teacher Kundalini Teacher Training. We never missed an opportunity to plunge into ICE WATER... There is true magic when we root ourselves in one place for a time.
While living in Whistler, we were also introduced to a powerful medicine from Mexico, Bufo Alvarius. A shaman from Mexico came to live with us for some time and shared his medicine with our community and ourselves. It forever changed the course of our life. We left Whistler and travelled to Mexico to explore this newly found doorway to consciousness. It was a TRIP. We were passionate and excited. We experimented, explored foreign planes of consciousness, and deeply merged with new levels of ourselves. Soon after we travelled to Spain and new ways emerged. Our retreats evolved to include sacred medicine from Mexico. We stayed in Spain for almost a full year and our retreats got busier and bigger. This was also the moment where a sister and I cocreated a Women's Retreat in the sacred lands of Caceres, Spain. To think about the magic that was birthed in that retreat still gives me full-body chills! Without ever hearing about the Sisterhood of the Rose, these codes were channelled through and all of us were initiated into the Sisterhood of the Rose! Little did I know that this was the beginning of my Life's work and destiny!
At the end of 2018 I embarked on yet another life-changing journey, I began the Aquarian Teacher teacher Training with Rama Institute taught by Guru Jagat, Harijiwan, Tej and Guru Jas. Guru Jagat, she's a boss... no words, please just check her out and if possible LADIES, attend a Camp Grace. She delivers the Kundalini teachings as taught by Yogi Bhajan in an irresistibly intriguing way. The course lead into 2019 and before finishing Kundalini became a core piece of our retreats. The key to integrating mystical spiritual experiences into everyday life.
2019 we also made Jose's (my beloved's) dreams come true and journeyed deep into the Brazilian Amazon. We lived with a community of indigenous people part of the Huni Kuin tribe. One month of living, breathing, eating, sleeping, journeying next to these wonderful humans. Needless to say, we learned so much. We harvested, prepared and experienced their sacred medicines including Ayahuasca, Rapé, Sananga and Kambo. We returned to Canada charged with the songs and rich ways of these people. Our Canada round of retreats began and we were in sharing mode. Sharing it all, all the transmissions, all the inspiration, everything! After our summer in Vancouver we continued to Spain to share there; Sacred Women Retreats, Medicine Retreats, Breath workshops, Women's Circles, Cacao Ceremonies, Wim Hof workshops and more. It was a truly beautiful and powerful moment for me as the call to deepen my relationship with the Divine Feminine grew stronger. She was emerging in me and through me, I realized the time had come and that something much bigger than I could imagine was being awakened!
Life took Jose and I to Saudi Arabia to experience this incredibly foreign and beautiful country. We went to share yoga and breath with the very-ready community there. It was a rewarding trip to witness the impact the teachings had on many individuals, life-changing!
As you can see, I have not stopped moving around for the last seven years! It has been full-on in a truly graceful and fulfilling way. When Covid come around this February, many things changed. We cancelled many of our retreats and took the opportunity of being grounded in one place with time on our hands, to take our offering online. Trust me, I never imagined how powerful experiences could be despite being transmitted online... I will share more shortly! ... It has most definitely been to most transformational year of my life!
And so it is. Thank you for taking the time to read my reflections of the past seven years.
I am committed to living an authentic Life. To BE a true expression of my heart. To approach and experience everything I do with totality, giving 100% of my Self to the moment.
May this be a resource to encourage, guide and serve you in whichever way it can! Namaste
